Phonemic Analysis

Directions: Please complete the guided and independent practices of this lesson plan. Use the introduction, model and example as a guide for the guided and independent activities.

a. Objective

The students will be able to identify the area under the curve through methods of integration, Riemann sums, and anti-differentiation.

b. Introduction

To demonstrate this I will show pictures of functions such as x^2 and see how accurate we can get to identifying the area under the curve.

c. Model

To model the different types of functions, I will draw basic functions and attempt to find the area through the process of rectangular approximation.

d. Guided Practice

For guided practice, you will be grouped in fours. Then, together, you will come up with ways of finding the area under the curve. The group with the closest approximation will earn 5 points of extra credit.

e. Independent Practice

For independent practice, you must complete the given worksheet on definitions of the methods learned. I need to know also the pro's and con's of each method.
